TRACES: Transparency and Animal Welfare in the European Animal Trade
Did you know that the European Union has a tracking service called TRACES to overview the trade of live animals and goods? ????????
To make sure that this trade is transparent and with respect for the animals, the European commission has taken extensive action in the past years.
What is TRACES exactly?
An online platform for animal and plant health certification required for the importation of animals, animal products, food and feed of non-animal origin and plants into the European Union, and the intra-EU trade and EU exports of animals and certain animal products.
How is it linked to Carfil Quality?
We rely on TRACES when we want to export our minipigs or our cardiopigs. For example if we export from Germany, where the breeding facility is located, the right registration and documentation are necessary, otherwise the delivery of the animals is not possible. For receiving minipigs and cardiopigs it is also necessary to be registered as a ‘porc establishment’. Another specific measurement to the industry.
We believe that TRACES added extra transparency for trading within the EU and also makes sure that animals are treated with the respect they deserve.
