Validation at the X-ray facilities in Europe
Carfil Quality announces that it has had its full range also validated at the X-ray facilities in Europe.
For more than 30 years, Carfil Quality has offered products sterilized by gamma radiation. However, in the last year, it has been a challenge to continue to provide our customers with sterilized products as all Covid-19 products were prioritized to fight the pandemic.
In addition to the exponential increase in the need for gamma-irradiated sterilized products, the availability of Cobalt 60 has also been an issue. With limited competition from reliable providers, we were able to continue to ensure continuity by partnering with multiple sterilization companies and having our products validated in multiple gamma sites throughout Europe.
In early 2021, we contacted some customers and decided to have our products validated by X-ray irradiation as well.
This decision has several advantages:
- Continuity of sterilization, in addition to gamma irradiation
- Current no volume limitation for our customers
- X-ray is not dependent on Cobalt 60
- Order lead times are reduced
- Heating of products is lower than with gamma radiation
- Greener way of irradiating compared to gamma radiation
